November
Family and Youth Events at Doyle
“My daughter is so excited and engaged with the events you
are providing at the library! Our whole
family is enjoying activities and fun events at Doyle Library!” exclaimed a
mother attending the Wigglebots robot-building activity during Story Hour STEAM Stars events held on
Saturday, October 15, from 10-11 am.
Saturday, November 19, from 10-11 am, Doyle Public Library
will host its monthly (third Saturday of each month) Story Hour STEAM Stars event featuring activities centered around
Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math activities. “Our staff and I focus on interactive
projects that will provide information and knowledge, encouraging young people
to begin their own quest to research and discover meaningful aspects of our
world”.
“We encourage families to attend our special events at the
library or just stop by for a visit.
This month, the State of Illinois is featuring a Family Reading Night, which we have extended to include games for
the whole family! On Wednesday,
November 16, from 3-8 pm, Doyle Library is hosting its annual Family Fun Night, with lots of board
games, puzzles, food, prizes and other cool activities for all ages. “We are really looking forward
to this event to bring community members together and provide a lively time for
our young people!”
Teen Media Night
is featured each month for Jr. High and High School students who enjoy sharing and
discussing music, movies, books and other media with young people in the
community. On Wednesday, November 23,
from 6:30 to 7:45, Doyle Library is hosting its Teen Media Night with young
staff members of the library moderating and coordinating the media. Teens attending will choose specific media
and resources from lists compiled by young staff members. We will order your materials for discussion
through Interlibrary Loan and have materials available for club members each
month for discussion.
Study Time at
Doyle Library is offered every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday after school from
3-5 pm. “We offer a quiet place to
study, as well as, tutoring, research, and homework help as needed by young
people in our community. We encourage
young people to walk, ride their bikes, or have their parents bring them to the
library to productively read and concentrate on their studies.”
“So many wonderful events are being added to our current
activities each month and we look forward to adding more. “Stop by, obtain a library card,
check out our calendar and have fun at Doyle Public Library!”
